The History of Beeston Manor

Beeston Manor is more than a venue. It is part of a family story that has grown alongside the countryside that surrounds it.

Once known as Higher Barn Farm, the land and buildings were part of a working family farm set high above the Lancashire countryside.

Over time the Bickerstaffe family carefully restored the historic sandstone barn and surrounding buildings, gradually transforming them into the venue that Beeston Manor is today.

What began as a quiet corner of the farm has grown into what many couples now describe as Lancashire’s hidden gem.

A place where people gather.

A place where memories are made.

A place that feels like home.

For the Moments That Matter to Yours

The story of Beeston Manor began in 1985, when the Bickerstaffe family started restoring the barn at Higher Barn Farm.

With care and craftsmanship, the family preserved the character of the building while gradually creating a space where people could come together to celebrate life’s most important moments.

In 2008, Beeston Manor opened its doors to weddings for the very first time.

Since then, thousands of couples have celebrated their wedding day here, becoming part of the ongoing story of the venue.

From Higher Barn Farm to Beeston Manor

The historic barn that stands at the centre of Beeston Manor once served as part of the working farm.

Today its oak beams, sandstone walls and countryside setting create the warm and welcoming atmosphere the venue is known for.

Over the years the venue has grown to include ceremony spaces, lounges and guest accommodation, allowing Beeston to host celebrations of every kind while still preserving the character of its farming roots.

Despite the changes, the heart of Beeston has remained the same.

A place where guests feel relaxed, welcomed and completely at home.

A New Chapter in 2026

In March 2026, a new chapter in the Beeston story began with the addition of The Meadows, designed and developed by John Bickerstaffe.

This peaceful countryside retreat introduced a collection of beautiful suites, the bridal lounge known as The Nest, and a private space where couples can begin their celebrations the evening before their wedding.

With balconies, countryside views and hot tubs overlooking the fields, The Meadows allows couples and guests to experience Beeston over two days rather than just one.

It is the next step in the family’s vision for the venue.
